The Kerala Backwaters is one of the most remarkable backwaters of the world, a unique product of Kerala found nowhere else in the world. Boat trips across these serene stretches are an experience exclusive to Kerala. Large Kettuvalloms (traditional country crafts over 60ft. in length) have been converted into luxury houseboats for these cruises. Kerala House boat, the moving master piece, has been plying the inland waterways of southwest India for countless centuries and originally used as cargo rice boats. The old ‘Kettuvallams’ are the cargo boats that once piled in the backwaters of Kerala to carry heavy cargo such as Rice, Coconut, Spices etc. and also to provide living accommodation for the boat men. We have now adapted them to offer holidaymakers the ultimate backwater experience designed exclusively for couples.

The houseboats have all the comforts of a luxury hotel including completely furnished single & double bedrooms with attached bath, sit out, kitchen and living room made of traditional wood. You will be residing in the boat for 5 days and during the cruise you can visit different places of interest through the backwaters…

In each houseboat, there are 3 men staff (crew), consisting of a cook and two well skilled punters throughout the cruise. Punters stand on each end of the boat for punting and directing the boat. Kerosene-lit lamps along will be available for light and mosquito nets will be provided. Food will be prepared on board and the crew will go to market by the backwaters for shopping for daily cooking. Traditional vegetarian and non vegetarian Kerala cuisine is served. In keeping up with the traditions the chefs will serve traditional houseboat cuisine of freshly caught Karimeen (Pearl Spot) a delicious Backwater fish, local vegetables and rice.

During the cruise we will provide you cycles and you can go around cycling in the villages whenever required and later come back to the Boat. You will be invited to be the guest of a local family by the backwaters for a day and they will take you around showing their beautiful village. They will also offer you a typical Kerala meal with local specialties. The hosts can teach you their dress styles and if interested you can try to wear the 5 meter long Sari…..And what is truly paranormal about a houseboat holidays in Kerala is the spectacular view of the unscathed and otherwise unattainable rural Kerala that it offers - while you cruise the backwaters.

The boarding point will be different according to the day of cruises. This will inform the clients well in advance and the usual points will be Allumkadavu, Alleppey or Kottayam. During the day they will cruise through the backwaters and at night will embark in the lakes.
